I had heard from friends that this film wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, so I took my time getting around to watching it. The last Michael Moore film I had seen was Roger And Me and I didn’t like it at all, so that helped me put it off. So I was in the mood to be unimpressed, but I ended up liking it a lot. There were less off-topic tangental parts than Roger And Me and when he managed to stay on message I thought he did a pretty good job.
I do wish he would have made some more direct, verifiable arguments—he seemed to dig and dig and gather up supporting information right up to some threshold but then drop the argument and move on to something else. And too often his interviews seem to be about making an emotional or humorous impact rather than getting any sort of viable information.
But in the end I liked what I saw (or rather, I didn’t—but that’s the point) and felt that it was mostly on target and that his facts were generally consistent with other reputable news that I’ve seen. I liked a few of the extra scene’s on the DVD, too. If you haven’t seen this movie, you should probably check it out and open your eyes.
